The resume form is a standard sample for a job. How to write a resume for a job correctly: template, sample, what to indicate, what is not worth it. Downloads

A resume for work is an information sheet that allows you to have a primary idea of the employer about the future employee. The form can be downloaded for free at the link.

A resume is an information sheet that allows you to have an initial idea of the employer about the future employee. There is no single approved resume form. Each institution practices maintaining its own forms, templates, examples, resume samples. The creation of this document should be given special attention, since making mistakes in it can negatively affect the consideration of papers by the organization's management. The submitted resume form will allow the user of a free resource to independently form the desired written act.

As a rule, the paper in question contains a summary of the life stages of the job seeker. This includes information about training in educational institutions of the subject and their identification. Information about the qualifications received, the name of the organizations - previous places of professional activity, data on the composition of the family, marital status, children, additional skills, personal qualities will be a good addition to the resume. Employers practice obtaining a resume by contacting employees in the personnel department, or through electronic forms of communication.

Mandatory resume items for work

:
  • The name is written at the top of the form;
  • Below is the full name, date of birth, contact details, place of registration and residence;
  • Enumeration of educational institutions, previous places of work;
  • Additional information and skills;
  • Date of issue, signature and decoding are at discretion. Usually, such details are not included in the text of this document.
If the subject's professional experience is long, and in his professional activity he managed to work in dozens of companies, it is not necessary to indicate the entire list. It is enough to record the last 3-5 organizations, the term of work, the main specialization in these institutions. Resume form it is enough to make one copy for the addressee. After filling out the form, it is important to check for grammatical and punctuation errors, information, and only then send it to the employer.

A resume is one of the most powerful tools in the hands of a jobseeker. There is a version that a well-written resume can replace an interview, and therefore can become a kind of guarantor of successful employment.

There are no uniform standards that determine how to write a resume, neither in Russia, nor in the world. But there are recommendations backed by the experience of HR professionals and experts. We will pay special attention to them.

Resume types in modern classification

Some HR experts believe that a resume is a type of document that can be classified into several flavors. In particular, there are researchers who subdivide these types of resumes into documents adapted for a specific vacancy or a general nature, as well as subdivided according to their purpose into chronological and functional.

Choosing one (or combining several) will affect how a particular candidate prefers to write a resume.

Resume - only for vacancy

Many HR experts advise that only targeted resumes are sent to the employer - those that indicate a candidate's desire to apply for a particular vacancy. Companies, according to experts, do not particularly like to deal with people who decide to simply declare themselves without a specific purpose and do not know how to write a resume, applying for a position suitable for themselves.

Resume - for any job

The opposite point of view - it is possible and necessary to send a resume in which a person reflects a willingness to work in principle. The company itself should "appoint" the candidate for the vacancy for which it sees fit.

Chronological view of the resume

Such documents set out the candidate's career path in relation to the sequence in time (forward or backward). This is now the most common type of resume. Its main advantage is that the employer sees a fairly detailed picture of the candidate's work biography. The main drawback is that it is not easy to single out a stage that is especially important for an HR manager reviewing a resume, and it is not at all a fact that he will be able to see it himself.

Functional resume view

This type of document reflects the qualifications of the candidate, his professionalism, experience, and the results achieved. The sequence of facts reflecting the work biography, as a rule, fades into the background. Some HR specialists treat this type of resume with a pronounced distrust, believing that a person could not state the facts quite correctly (somewhere to ascribe someone else's achievements to himself, somewhere to wishful thinking).

There is, of course, a combined type of resume that combines functional and chronological features. You just need to be able to state the facts in the right structure. Our small instruction can help to determine how it should look like (and after reading it, we will be able to see an example of how to write a resume, a sample of how to write it).

Optimal resume structure

HR specialists believe that the following structure of a resume can be typical:

1. Title (full name of the candidate).
2. Purpose of submitting the document.
3. Basic information about the candidate.
4. Education.
5. Work experience and other activities.
6. Additional data.
7. Conclusion.

This is a relatively universal scheme, it is suitable for people who want to understand how to write a resume for an educator, engineer, manager, one might say, for any profession.

What do we write in the title

It is recommended to write only the full name, as well as the name of the document "resume" (so as not to get lost on the desktops of the HR department). The heading should be spread across the entire width of the sheet, and the word "resume" in the middle.

What do we indicate the purpose

It all depends on one of the two strategies described above - the desire to work in a specific position or the intention to find a job in principle. If the first option - we write in the goal "competition for a vacancy such and such" (for example, "designer", "programmer", "engineer"). If the second - we write in the goal of "employment in the profile of such and such" (for example, "sales", "research", "marketing").

In the same section, many HR specialists recommend prescribing the desired salary conditions (if possible, we prescribe the market average figures), the form of employment (which can be full, partial or temporary). It can be noted that there is a willingness to work remotely, for business trips, and a flexible schedule.

Basic information about the candidate

These include:

  • Full name, date of birth.
  • Registration address (actual residence).
  • Marital status, whether there are children.
  • Contacts - phones, e-mail, VOIP, social media profiles.
  • General work experience (in years).

Education

How to write education on a resume? We indicate the name of the university (or secondary vocational educational institution), its full form (that is, for example, not FG, but “federal state.” We write the year of admission, graduation and specialty (qualification). We indicate the number of the diploma. And so - for each institution where you studied.

If there are professional certificates obtained outside the university (for example, courses in advanced knowledge of programming languages) - indicate below (name of the course, place and duration of training).

experience

Experts advise to write what is stated in the work book for the last ten years. If the work was in several segments, then you can somehow highlight them.

Here's an example.

2005-2007 - sales activities:

  • Position: manager (company such and such), 2005
  • Position: sales representative (company such and such), 2006-2007

In 2008-2014 - activities in the field of entertainment:

  • Position: TV presenter (channel such and such), 2008-2010
  • Position: General Director (TV channel such and such), 2010-2014

How to write a resume if you have no work experience? In this case, you can include in this document information about the activities that will give the employer a more or less tangible idea of the qualifications of the candidate.

Examples can be as follows (in particular, they will help to understand how to write a resume for a student):

In 2011 - activities in the field of logistics:

  • position: assistant to the general director (such and such a company) in the framework of labor practice.

In 2012 - activities in the field of civil service:

  • position: chairman of the election commission (number such and such) at the presidential elections in the Russian Federation

Additional Information

Here it makes sense to indicate the skills that can help in the work: knowledge of computer programs, foreign languages, personal qualities (but not to praise yourself too much, but to indicate only those that may be relevant vacancies or the field in which the company operates).

In the same section, contacts of persons who can give a recommendation will be useful. This, according to HR experts, is very appealing to employers. The availability of recommendations will especially help those who do not have work experience with a work book.

Additional information also includes professional and other achievements. For example, if at the previous job there were certificates or awards, you need to indicate this (and explain why).

Final part

Here HR specialists recommend that you state the rationale for contacting the company with a resume. It is necessary to indicate why a person chooses a particular employer, and not some other (but without laudatory phrases like “I only dreamed of getting to you”). You can, as an option, indicate that this company has all the conditions in which you can reveal your professional potential.

The specified structure of how to write a resume correctly is a completely theoretical example. A little later we will come to the practical component. But for now, there are other important nuances.

How to write a resume

We looked at how to write a resume in terms of content. The next moment is the design. It is best to create a document on A4 sheet. Formatting settings (mainly for the size of the fields) can be left as set by default in the editor Word or its equivalent. If there are any unusual ones - set the field width to 3 cm on the left, 1.5 cm - on the right. Optimal font size is 12, line spacing is single. It is better to justify the text, set hyphenation.

HR professionals strongly discourage the use of exclamation marks, capital letters without abbreviations, or bold type (as well as italics or underlining) in a resume.

It is not always appropriate to insert tables into a resume - they can only take up space and not carry the necessary information.

HR experts differ on the photo (whether to post or not). Opponents of the placement say that a resume with a photo is almost a sign of bad taste, supporters say that this is a global trend, and Russians need to join it.

The resume shouldn't be too long. Ideal if it is one page.

The main mistakes in working with resume

Experts identify three types of basic mistakes that candidates make when writing a resume.

  1. Too short statement of facts.

    The thing is that, as a rule, people are called in for an interview who were able to provide so much information about themselves that the HR manager only had additional questions. The main facts have already been stated.

  2. Too wordy.

    A resume, experts emphasize, should not be an autobiography. Employers are not interested in facts that are not directly related to work: hobbies or, for example, philosophical and political views. And those that have, it is quite possible to state it on one page. The HR manager will ask about hobbies and the like, if he sees fit, at the interview.

  3. When one resume is sent to several different vacancies.

    Above, we noted that there are two optimal strategies: "work on the vacancy" and "work in principle". If a person has chosen several vacancies, then, it seems, what prevents to apply a certain combined version of writing a resume? But HR experts say that the intention to apply for several vacancies at once may indicate that the candidate himself does not know what he wants from the job. If there are several vacancies, then you need to draw up several resumes (each of which should be adapted according to experience, education) for a specific position. It is a completely different matter if a person makes it clear to the manager that he is really applying for several vacancies through separate resumes, in which the legitimacy of such an intention is clearly and reasonably stated. In which it is written that there is both experience and qualifications for each position.

Do I need a cover letter?

HR managers advise to write it and attach it to the resume. The main purpose of this document is to show how a candidate differs from others with a similar resume at the level of presentation of thoughts, internal beliefs and attitudes, which are readable in cover letters. Many HR professionals only evaluate a resume in conjunction with a cover letter.

There are not many requirements for this document - this is just another A4 sheet placed in front of the one on which the content of the resume is stated (that is, the employer needs to read the cover letter first). This leaflet contains several suggestions about why the person decided to apply for the vacancy. How is this different from the "goal" section? A statement of the motive. In a cover letter, a person reveals what drives them to look for a job. The "goal" is what he expects from the search.

Dos and Don'ts when writing a resume

HR professionals caution against taking a series of actions that will almost certainly result in a failure in the interview or refusal to further consider the personality of the resume writer as a candidate for the position.

The first is to write a fictitious name that does not correspond to the real date of birth. It is an absolute bad manners to impersonate another person (who may have the necessary experience and qualifications) in order to be summoned for an interview. The identification of the candidate must be unambiguous.

The second is to give incorrect information on work experience (it is especially important to write true terms for the implementation of activities) and education. As a rule, employers check this by calling their contact information (or their channels).

The third is to ignore the key facts that the person is suitable for the job. These may include, for example, job responsibilities. The ability to avoid this is especially important for people who want to learn to understand how to write a resume to a bank and other financial organizations. It is in these segments that experience is not so much important as the content of previous work. For example, an accountant who worked in a sports club and charged foreigners 'salaries, and an accountant who worked in the civil service and charged officials' salaries - in the eyes of an HR manager - are different specialists, despite the fact that the position sounds the same (and, quite possibly, both accountants studied at the next desk in the university).

Sample of a good resume

Let's move from theory to practice. Let's see how to write a resume, a sample of which can be highly appreciated by modern HR specialists. Take a job opener like Marketing Director. This, of course, is just an approximate resume form - how to write this document in fact, is determined by the candidate himself.

Heading

Everything is extremely simple here. "Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich. Summary". Place it in the center of the page. Do not forget to highlight the title in a larger font (14-16 is possible).

Target

In this case, we are talking about applying for a specific vacancy - above we have already outlined how to write a resume for a job within the framework of the desired positions. Citizen Ivanov will state the following goal: “Employment for the position of Marketing Director” (we also indicate in which company).

Here we prescribe the conditions for the salary. "The desired level of income is 90 thousand rubles a month." HR specialists do not recommend writing "by agreement" - especially when it comes to a managerial position.

Conclusion

You can write like this. “Having gained the necessary experience in Russian companies, I consider it necessary to move in the direction of international business. In this regard, I see myself as a sales director in the company. " This is roughly how to write a resume correctly, an example of a more or less attractive document template for a modern employer.

The recruitment industry in Russia is actively developing. There are some other helpful tips on how to write a resume correctly. Russian HR specialists advise that you do not need to state absolutely all the facts about yourself in your resume. You need to limit yourself to work and training experience that is directly related to the future vacancy and, which is important, relevant to the profile of the employing company.

The section on work experience should contain information that not only reflects the essence of the activity and its duration in a specific position. It is important to remember before writing a resume, an example of any achievements. It will be great if their essence is such that no one else has been able to achieve similar results. It is important for HR managers to strive to reach new heights.

Similarly, in the section on education, it is desirable to reflect something that can impress the employer. For example, writing some scientific work on a major problem, or inventing something in a university laboratory. It can be indicated that there were victories in olympiads, competitions, and personal scholarships were assigned.

If the candidate has absolutely no experience and understanding of how to write a resume, you can always download a sample of one from specialized sites. But it is desirable, of course, to master the methods of drawing up such documents on their own.

The most important recommendation of HR specialists is to re-read the resume several times. Ideally, ask someone else to do it. It will be great if this person turns out to be an experienced HR manager. It is very important how to write a resume correctly, not only in terms of texture, but also in terms of spelling, style and grammar. This factor is of great importance for employers.

1. What is a resume and what is it for?

If you still do not quite understand what a resume is, I suggest defining it:

Summary- it brief self-presentation in writing of your professional skills, achievements and personal qualities that you plan to successfully implement at your future job in order to receive compensation for them (for example, in the form of money or other type of compensation)

In the past, I myself had to write a resume when applying for a job. Indeed, without this, no employer will even know about you and your professional skills.

I remember when I sat down to write my resume for the first time, it took me a lot of time to competently draw up and arrange it according to all standards. To do this, I talked with professional HR specialists and studied a large number of articles on the topic.

2. How to write a resume correctly - 10 easy steps

Before moving on to the steps, I want you to remember 3 main rules for successful resume writing:

Rule # 1. Write the truth, but not the whole

Emphasize your strengths and don't mention your weaknesses too much. You will be asked about them at an interview, be prepared for this.

Rule # 2. Maintain a clear structure

The resume is written on 1-2 sheets, no more. Therefore, try to briefly and succinctly state all the necessary information in it, even if there is a lot of it.

Take care of the neat formatting of the resume text and its structured presentation. Since no one is pleased to read gibberish.

Rule # 3. Be optimistic and cheerful

Positive people attract success. In your case, a new job.

So, now let's move on to the structure of writing a resume.

Step 1. Title of the resume

Here you must write the word "Summary" and indicate who it was written for.

All this is written on one line.

For instance: Resume of Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich

Then your potential employer will immediately understand who owns the resume. For example, you have previously called a company of interest to you in order to find out if they still have this vacancy open. You were given a positive answer and offered to send your resume.

At the end of the first step, your resume will look like this:

Step 2. The purpose of the resume

It must be remembered that your resume must have a purpose. Correctly formulate it as follows (phrase):

The purpose of the resume is to apply for the position of an accountant

Since at this moment you are called that - a job seeker, that is, a person looking for a job, potentially applying for it.

At the end of the second step, your resume will look like this:

Step 3. Applicant and his data

At this point, you must write the following:

  • date of birth;
  • the address;
  • contact number;
  • e-mail;
  • marital status.

At the end of step three, your resume should look like this:

Step 4. Education

If you have several entities, write them in order.

For instance:

Moscow State University, 2005-2010,

Speciality: accountant (bachelor)

Moscow State University, 2007-2013,

Speciality: translator and interpreter in the field of professional communication (bachelor's degree)

At this stage, your resume should look like this:

Step 5. Work experience

Please note that the column "work experience" is written in the resume starting from the very last place of your work, if it is not the only one, and begins with the period spent in this position.

For instance:

Position: chief accountant's assistant;

Position: accountant

So we have already written half of the resume, it should look like this:

Step 6. Job responsibilities

This item in the resume is not always required if the vacancy for which you are applying is quite widespread, and you held a similar position at a previous place of work.

Sometimes this item can be included in the previous one by writing your job responsibilities immediately after the position.

Step 7. Achievements in previous jobs

The item "Achievements" is one of the most important in the resume! It is much more important than education and even work experience.

Your potential employer wants to know what exactly he will pay you wages for. Therefore, it is very important to mention when writing a resume about all significant achievements in previous jobs. At the same time, please note that it is correct to write with words that are so-called "markers" for HR personnel considering your resume.

For example, it is correct to write:

  • increased sales volumes by 30 percent in 6 months;
  • developed and introduced new technology into production;
  • cut equipment maintenance costs by 40%.

Wrong to write:

  • worked on increasing sales;
  • took part in a project to create a new technology;
  • reduced equipment costs.

As you can see, it is also important to write specific numbers, as they very clearly reflect the essence of your achievements.

Your resume now looks something like this:

Step 8. Additional information

Here you need to describe your strengths, professional knowledge and skills that will directly help you to better and better perform the tasks assigned to you at your new place of work.

Usually they write the following here:

  1. Computer skills and special programs. This is true for office workers and employees whose direct work is related to the PC. For example, for designers, accountants, programmers, office managers.
  2. Knowledge of foreign languages. If your future job involves reading, translating or communicating in a foreign language and you know it to a certain extent, be sure to write about it. For example: English spoken.
  3. Car and driving skills. If your work involves business trips and you often have to drive a car, for example, working as a sales representative, then you should indicate the presence of your car, as well as the category of driver's license and experience.

Thus, in the additional information, along with knowledge of a computer and a foreign language, write: there is a personal car, category B, 5 years of experience.

Step 9. Personal qualities

There is no need to describe too many qualities here, especially if they do not apply to your future work. You can be a kind and sympathetic person, loving children and respecting your friends, but a potential employer will not be interested in reading about your “cordiality” and a rich inner world.

For example, if you are applying for the position of an accountant, it would be good to write here: composure, attentiveness, punctuality, efficiency, mathematical mindset, ability to analyze.

If you are applying for a more creative profession, say a designer or creator, then here you should indicate: a developed creative imagination, a sense of style, a non-standard view of the problem, healthy perfectionism.

It will be great if you mention your full name at the end of your resume. and the positions of your previous managers, as well as indicate their contact numbers so that your potential employer or his representative could verify your professionalism, having received feedback about you from your previous direct managers.

Even if your potential employer will not call your former managers, the very fact of having contacts for recommendations will significantly increase his trust in you.

At the very end of the resume, you must indicate at what time you are ready to start work, here you can also indicate the desired level of remuneration.

The final look of your resume:

Congratulations! Your resume is 100% ready!

Lately, I often have to help with resume writing. Some kind of general desire to change everything that is possible: life, work, place of residence. The most accessible thing is to change your job for a better one. The first step, so to speak.

As a rule, to establish yourself as a specialist, you need a convincing and well-written resume. And who said resume writing isn't copywriting? What another!

Perhaps the most important selling text for your own good. A unique text that will help you sell your skills, your professional qualities for the highest possible price.

Your resume should be a well-written document that demonstrates your integrity and professionalism in every line and in every paragraph. There is no place for a spacious biography. No one cares how many times you have been married or what kind of trials you have gone through.

  • It should contain a laconic presentation of information that in a favorable light will distinguish you among the host of applicants, as a class specialist, professional.
  • Moments of professional growth and achievements that will make the attention of personnel officers and the employer personally to you: such a valuable and necessary specialist for the company.

Example of a professional resume

How to write a good resume

  • Headline or heading.
  • The purpose of the resume.
  • Education.
  • Work experience and position you are applying for.
  • Desired payment.
  • Additional information.

Now in more detail on each item.

V "Header" we indicate our data:

  1. Surname, name, patronymic - this is a must
  2. Indicate the year of birth if you think this information will add points to you. The price includes people 30-35 years old. The chances for 45-year-olds and 19-year-olds are significantly less. But she couldn't hide it in a sack. You will indicate the years of study. So here you decide whether to advertise your age from the very first lines or not.
  3. Marital status is also not necessary, but desirable.
  4. Address, phone, e-mail, skype. All those contacts that you deem necessary. This is an obligatory item.

Note

If there are several phones, be the first to indicate the phone on which you are available at any time.
A potential employer has a lot of you, job seekers. If you don't get through the first time, consider the train gone and the longed-for vacancy too.

In chapter "Target", clearly state the position you are applying for.

Attention

As a rule, a resume is written based on the vacancy that is currently required by the employer. It is not necessary to indicate several positions at once in one document.

  1. Write a separate resume for each ad.
  2. One job offer - one resume.

In the graph "Education" start with the profession and diploma that give you a reason to qualify for this position.

Indicate educational institution, qualifications, GPA.
If you attended advanced training courses in the profession or had an internship at a prestigious enterprise, be sure to write about it.

Honors degree? Be sure to point out this circumstance. Academic degree? Generally gorgeous.

On a note

Feel free to talk about all the achievements in the field of activity for the position in which you are applying.

If the education does not correspond to either the position or the profession, the name of the educational institution, years of study, diploma or certificate of education must be indicated without fail.

Additionally, write about your level of computer and Internet proficiency.
List the programs you work with and are fluent in.

Be sure to indicate the level of language proficiency. If, of course, such knowledge has a place to be, and consider that additional points are in your pocket.

You can indicate both the presence of a driving license and the presence of the vehicle itself.
For some reason, this question of the employer in an oral conversation when applying for a job sounds very often, even if the applicant came to be hired as a janitor or salesman.

Count "Work experience and desired position" Is the most important part of your resume.

  • Start from your last job. In which organization, how long, in what time frame did you work. Do you continue to work there at the present time?
  • Indicate your achievements, successes, refresher courses, anything that can confirm your competence and serve to your benefit.
  • Do not list the data of the work book, write about real work experience, operate in terms, indicate those character traits that will help you achieve success in the position for which you are applying.

The employer must see you as a person with all the necessary set of knowledge, skills and character traits.

However, trainings and courses that are not relevant are not worth listing. It is unlikely that a future chef will be useful to know that you have taken origami courses if he is considering your candidacy as an economist or HR manager.

Question desired payment- the most delicate in the resume.

On a note

If you know your worth, as a specialist, and are not ready to work for an amount less than you estimate yourself, feel free to write it.

If you are applying for the same position in which you worked in another place, and you know how much such a vacancy is paid for, write the amount of the estimated salary. Note, however, that your pay plans and those of your employer may not be the same.

If you know your lower earnings limit, then write that you expect to be paid at least a certain amount.
You can omit this item at all and respond to ads where the salary for the vacancy is indicated.

How to avoid annoying mistakes

  1. First of all, the resume must be written correctly, without mistakes and clumsy phrases. Proofread what is written and make sure that all the terms, names of programs, abbreviations of educational institutions are written by you correctly and do not contain annoying clues, errors and inaccuracies.
  2. A poorly written resume makes an unfavorable impression. It "hurts" the eye right away, when reading it, and it may not come to an interview at all. Even if the data you specified would suit the potential bosses in the best possible way.
  3. It is better to place your resume on one sheet. It is worse if it is in two and a pack of several pages is completely useless.
    Imagine a recruiter or employer who is forced to read the multi-page opuses of every job seeker-writer. Usually, only the beginning is carefully discerned.
  4. This single page must be readable. Both too small and large print are unacceptable. Ideally 12 pt.
  5. The text should not be "solid". Break it down into paragraphs of 2-3 sentences.

Put your soul into your resume, do not "dry" the text with paperwork. But don't overdo it either. Choose a middle ground between a statement of facts and a list of skills, insert a flavor of uniqueness.

The employer must see in you both a specialist and a career-oriented person. A specialist, from cooperation with whom the enterprise will benefit and a person with whom it will be comfortable to work.

Very important

A resume is the first thing to prepare before starting your job search.

What is a resume

The term "resume" comes from a French phrase that sounds like a life course in translation. Sometimes the Latin term curriculum vitae or CV is used, which means the same thing. In Soviet times, the term "" was used more.

The concept of a resume is understood as a document that reflects the education, work experience, skills of a person applying for a certain position. It should indicate any information that relates to the position of interest, as well as the contact details of the applicant.

Today, these terms are used for different life stories, which must be taken into account when choosing a ready-made sample for compilation when applying for a job.

  • The compilation of an autobiography is still required for employment in government agencies.
  • CV is written by applicants for high positions in scientific or medical institutions, is characterized by a broad and detailed presentation of life, contains a list of publications, scientific papers, personal achievements.
  • The rest of the cases involve writing a resume with information for a specific position.

A document presenting an employee to a future employer can have a different form of preparation.

    Distinguish resume:
  • universal (professional);
  • chronologically functional;
  • chronological (retrospective);
  • functional;
  • academic;
  • targeted.

When choosing ready-made examples of filling out a resume for a job, you need to take these features into account. So, in the universal version, all information is indicated by logical blocks and is described in detail. This form is recommended for those who have an impressive track record and have something to brag about professionally.

If a person is just entering the labor path, when there is nothing special to describe, it is necessary to use a functional resume. In this case, all work experience and training are also indicated in chronological order, but the emphasis is on education, skills, knowledge. This example of writing a resume for applying for a job is suitable for those who have had a long break from work and who are planning to change the direction of their professional activities.

For those who have worked in one field for a long time and plan to continue to develop in it, a retrospective resume is suitable, in which you can summarize all work experience in chronological order. The functional consistently reveals the achievements of the applicant, and the combination of these two types of resume gives a functional-chronological one.

Typically, when writing a resume for a job and looking for a suitable option, job seekers come across a sample of the target resume. It contains information related exclusively to the position that the applicant wants to take.

An academic resume is written by applicants looking for a teaching job. Titles, awards, scientific achievements and publications occupy a significant place in it.

The structure of the summary may differ from country to country.

Today, job search sites provide sample resumes and special forms, templates, after filling in which you can get a ready-made document containing information about the applicant necessary for the employer. In addition, special companies and recruiting agencies help in writing a resume.

Recently, video resume has become popular - a short video where the candidate himself talks about what is usually stated in the resume.

Basic writing rules

There are open and unspoken resume rules. The first includes the formalities that are put forward for the preparation of the document, the second - the nuances that the employer or HR specialist pays attention to when studying the document.

For example, it is not recommended to write a lie on a resume. If there is any information that puts you in an unfavorable light, it is better not to mention it, but to focus on your achievements. But twisting the facts and telling a lie is not worth it.

Information should be presented in simple language, avoiding passive forms, concentrating on positive information.

In the resume, it is necessary to briefly and clearly state only the information that relates specifically to the position of interest and can characterize the applicant from the best side.

When drafting your document, please note that any sample that you can see will have a clear structure. It should take no more than two sheets, so you should try to present the information succinctly.

The text is written in one font, usually Times New Roman, but Arial is acceptable. The font size is 12 point size throughout the text. A smaller font can be used if the resume is sent in electronic form, it is difficult to read in the printed small print. The document must be formalized strictly, sections are structured and separated from each other.

Headings are underlined or bold. It is necessary to maintain indents from the edge of the paper by 2 cm on all sides, except for the left, on this side there should be 2.5 cm. Before sending your resume to the employer, carefully proofread it, check the grammar. If the document is printed, the paper should be white and of good quality.

A ready-made resume for applying for a job can be non-standard, but this is suitable in special cases, for example, when a candidate in a creative profession is looking for an appropriate creative position. Then the creative approach of the future employee to self-presentation can be assessed.

In other cases, it is better for accountants, engineers, salesmen and others to refrain from liberties.

The document must be prepared in Russian. In English, you can write it in the case when the applicant applies for a position in a foreign company or a foreign language is one of the requirements of the employer. But in the latter case, it is better to prepare a separate sample resume for a job in a foreign language so that the employer can view it in different languages.

Step-by-step guide to compilation

Now let's take a closer look at how to draw up a resume, what sections should be in it and how to fill them out correctly.

Name

The document should begin with the title "Resume", as well as the name of the applicant. Specifying the name at the very beginning in bold type will help in the future to quickly and easily find your document among others.

Target

There are many tips on how to write a resume sample for a job, but many examples contain an indication of the purpose of drawing up the document - seeking the position of a salesman, manager, accountant, and so on.

Also in this column it is desirable to indicate other positions for which the applicant agrees to go to work. The fact is that by specifying one specialization, you automatically deprive yourself of the opportunity to take another, since your resume will not be at hand at the right time.

Applicant data

Any good resume for a job, a sample of which you can download, contains this paragraph. In it, you must indicate information about your date of birth, address, contact phone number, e-mail and marital status.

Education

This point should be given special attention to those applicants who cannot boast of extensive work experience. Education must be specified with specific dates, placing them in chronological order, but in reverse order: from the last to the very first. If there is additional education, courses, they must also be indicated.

If you download a sample resume for a job, please note that high school is only listed if it was a specialized school or if you graduated with honors. But it is obligatory to indicate secondary specialized education.

If college education somehow correlates with the position you are interested in, it is advisable to indicate the department that graduated you. A young specialist can celebrate his achievements at contests, olympiads, competitions and so on.

Scientific and other publications, own developments, inventions, awards are also indicated here.

experience

The next point in the question of how to write a resume for a job is an indication of work experience, a sample of which can be found in any example found on the Internet. Usually, university graduates cannot boast of extensive work experience; in this case, they focus on education. But if there is one, especially if it is impressive, it must be indicated in chronological order, starting from the last place of work. First, the period of work is indicated, then the name of the organization, position.

Practice and internship are counted on a par with regular work. Moreover, some internships have even more weight than the entire accumulated work experience.

The question may arise: how is a resume for a job written when the work experience is too voluminous and the usual sample simply does not fit it into the recommended two pages of text? In such cases, it is advised to stay only at the last 3-5 places of work. However, if you have little experience in total, it is better to include all of it.

Job responsibilities

Sometimes this item is not singled out in a separate column, but indicated in the previous one. But if the vacancy is rare, at the previous place of work you held other positions, it is worth highlighting this information in a separate column.

Achievements

Many people are interested in how to write a resume correctly in order to interest the employer. The achievement clause helps a lot in this. It should list all the achievements in other jobs that you can be proud of. They will become the main markers for the employer by which the candidate is assessed. By the way, it is desirable to describe them using the correct wording. So, all proposals must have a complete form: reduced costs, introduced technology, increased sales. In this case, it is desirable to indicate specific numbers.

Additional Information

Some resumes, examples of which can be found on the Internet, provide additional information about yourself, a sample of which can be seen below. In this section, you need to maximize your strengths, skills and knowledge that help you better fulfill your professional responsibilities.

You should not praise yourself especially, indicate only the facts.

Personal qualities

Often, many have problems with this item. How to properly fill out a resume for a job in order to show yourself as an example of a specialist in your field, but not go too far? In this case, you need to build on the position for which you are applying. Think about what qualities an employee needs to do their job perfectly, how much they are expressed in you. Those that show up best, write in this section.

This is an optional paragraph on a resume, but its presence will give the document more credibility. It is not necessary to provide a list of referees. It is enough to point out that there are people who are ready to confirm the skills you have claimed. But it's worth having it. List the companies where you have worked and their contact persons. Check in advance if they are ready to give such recommendations. It is recommended that you go to your interview with this list.

What else can you include in your resume: practical advice

Even taking into account all of the above, applicants still do not always understand how to fill out a resume for a job correctly, they are looking for an example that suits their situation in order to make a similar one. In this case, it is worth paying attention to some practical advice given by recruiting agencies and job search sites.

It is also important to understand that such a document is drawn up not so much for the sake of describing you as an applicant, but for a specific position. It is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the company's business, its specifics, corporate requirements. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare a separate resume for each new interview, but never come without it.

What is not worth writing

The question of how to create a resume for a job correctly includes not only a sample of a correctly drawn up document, but also recommendations on what should not be indicated in it. So, it is strongly discouraged to indicate false information. This was mentioned above, but it is worth emphasizing again, since many inexperienced applicants have a desire to add some merit to themselves in order to get a good place. In fact, any lie always pops up. And it will be worse than if you immediately admit that you do not own certain skills.
